In the central German chemical triangle, the energy company Uniper is testing green hydrogen technologies on an industrial scale. In Bad Lauchstädt, Sunfire will supply the core of a major project: a 30 megawatt pressurized alkaline electrolyser. In one of the flagship projects of the energy transition, the Bad Lauchstädt energy park, implementation is proceeding at full speed.Uniper has commissioned the Dresden company Sunfire to build a 30 MW electrolysis plant.Delivery is scheduled for 2024.In the project in the south of Saxony-Anhalt, the production, transport, storage and economic use of green hydrogen are to be implemented on an industrial scale.New solutions for the future energy infrastructure are to be shown.Together with other project partners, Uniper is helping to create added value and jobs in the region affected by structural change. The Hydrogen Forum from September 26th to 27th, 2022 is the platform for hydrogen technologies and solutions from the perspective of industry: generation, transport, storage and use are the focus of the practice-oriented lectures and workshops. Also included: Best practices, concrete solutions and technological developments that you can use today to get ready for the hydrogen infrastructure of the future! The hydrogen project is not only unique for the region of Central Germany, but also an important step for the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy throughout Europe.“The Bad Lauchstädt energy park covers the entire value chain between the production, transport, storage, marketing and use of green hydrogen. With Sunfire we have found the ideal partner for a central pillar of the project and are thus driving the energy turnaround locally," says Axel Wietfeld, CEO hydrogen at Uniper.Last but not least, green hydrogen is considered a beacon of hope for making the future energy supply independent of Russian gas imports. With 30 MW, the electrolysis plant is currently one of the largest planned plants of this type. In the Bad Lauchstädt energy park, green hydrogen is produced with the help of the electrolyser and green electricity from a nearby wind farm.In a second phase of the project, this should then be temporarily stored in a specially equipped salt cavern. It can then be fed into the hydrogen network of the local chemical industry via a converted gas pipeline. In addition, it should be used in future in urban mobility solutions, e.g. in hydrogen-powered buses.Sunfire has already implemented the pressurized alkali technology in numerous projects. In order to be able to meet the high demand in the market, the Dresden company is currently industrializing its electrolyser production. The plant manufacturer recently received funding in the three-digit million range from the federal government and the EU as part of the "Important Projects of Common European Interest" (IPCEI) in order to scale up its hydrogen technologies.By clicking on "Subscribe to newsletter" I agree to the processing and use of my data in accordance with the declaration of consent (please open for details) and accept the terms of use.I can find more information in our privacy policy. It goes without saying that we handle your personal data responsibly. If we collect personal data from you, we process it in compliance with the applicable data protection regulations. You can find detailed information in our data protection declaration.I agree that Vogel Communications Group GmbH & Co.
