With up to 95% assembly in the factory, the LM2500XPRESS was created for speed and simplicity. The LM2500XPRESS comes pre-packaged in 10 simplified modules for easy install and features 25 electrical interconnects vs. 130+ for a traditional plant, as well as minimal mechanical interconnects. Module systems flushing is completed at the factory, so customers don’t need to flush on-site. For customers who need power in days, not weeks, the LM2500XPRESS can be installed in about 13 days by 20 people.

The LM2500’s high efficiency helps reduce operating costs, plant emissions, and reliance on the local grid. With its dual fuel capability, including singular annular combustor (SAC) or GE’s latest dual fuel dry low emissions (DLE) technology, the LM2500 delivers performance with low emissions in a variety of situations and water availability scenarios. It features high reliability with control system redundancy, along with multiple options for configuration, making it a great choice for customers who need a more tailored power generation solution. The LM2500’s cycling capability allows multiple daily starts and stops, providing a strong solution for grids with penetration of renewable generation. Its open configuration allows for faster accessibility, easier maintenance, and increased speed of engine removal/replacement.

LM2500 gas turbines can operate on a wide variety of fuels, like natural gas, diesel, aviation fuel, naphtha, LPG, ethane, ethanol, biodiesel and others, and have nearly 30 years of experience operating on fuels that contain hydrogen, totaling over 6 million operating hours using concentrations ranging from 5% to 95% (by volume).

Aeroderivative gas turbines have the highest availability and reliability of any thermal power technology. GE’s aero turbines have several times the operating experience of all our competitors’ aero gas turbines combined, and can be replaced in a few days for a major inspection.

Made for high cycling capability and multi-day start/stop cycles, the LM2500 is a reliable source for fast power when needed. With the ability to ramp up from cold iron to base load within 5 minutes, you can get on the grid quickly and gain access to a wider range of ancillary services.

The LM2500XPRESS gas turbine is 95% factory assembled into simplified modules for fast and easy site installation, and has approximately 80% fewer electrical interconnects compared to traditional plants. It can be assembled and producing power in as little as two weeks.

The challenges: Colorado Springs Utilities was hoping to mitigate grid instability due to increasing renewable penetration. Their gas technology requirements included: Quick install, cost effective, dual fuels, fast start, and low turndown.
